同年蔡芳三言,尝与诸友游西(xi)山(shan)(shan)(shan),至深(shen)处见(jian)有微径,试缘(yuan)而登,寂无(wu)居人(ren)(ren)(ren),只破屋数间(jian),苔(tai)侵草没,视壁上大书一(yi)我字,笔力(li)险劲。因(yin)入观之(zhi),后(hou)有字迹,谛审(shen)乃二诗,其一(yi)曰:溪头散步遇(yu)邻家(jia),邀(yao)我同尝嫩蕨芽,携手贪论南渡事(shi),不知触折亚枝花。其二曰:酒酣醉卧老松前(qian),露下空山(shan)(shan)(shan)夜悄(qiao)然(ran),野鹿经年真见(jian)熟,也(ye)来分(fen)我绿苔(tai)眠(mian)。不著(zhu)年月姓名,味其词意,似(si)前(qian)代遗民。或以(yi)为仙(xian)笔,非也(ye)。又表弟安(an)中(zhong)宽,昔(xi)随木商(shang)出古北口,因(yin)访友至古尔(er)板苏巴尔(er)汉--俗(su)称三座塔(ta),即唐之(zhi)营州,辽之(zhi)兴(xing)中(zhong)府也(ye)。居停主人(ren)(ren)(ren)云,山(shan)(shan)(shan)家(jia)尝捕得一(yi)鹿,方缚就涧(jian)边屠割,忽绳(sheng)寸(cun)寸(cun)断,蹶然(ran)逸去。遥见(jian)对山(shan)(shan)(shan)一(yi)戴笠(li)人(ren)(ren)(ren),似(si)举手指画,疑(yi)其以(yi)术禁制之(zhi)。是山(shan)(shan)(shan)陡立,古无(wu)人(ren)(ren)(ren)踪,或者其仙(xian)欤。
先(xian)(xian)师何(he)励庵先(xian)(xian)生讳锈(xiu),雍(yong)正癸丑进士(shi),官至宗人府主事,宦途坎坷,贫(pin)病(bing)以终,著有樵香(xiang)小记(ji),多考证经史疑义,今著录四库全书中。为(wei)诗颇喜陆放(fang)翁,一(yi)日作怀(huai)诗曰:冷(leng)署(shu)萧条早放(fang)衙(ya),闲(xian)官风味似山(shan)家,偶来旧友寻棋局,绝少(shao)余钱落画叉,浅碧好储(chu)消夏酒(jiu),嫣红已(yi)到(dao)殿春花,镜(jing)中频看头如雪,爱惜流(liu)光倍(bei)有加。为(wei)余书于扇上,姚安(an)公见之沉吟曰:何(he)摧抑哀怨乃(nai)尔,神志(zhi)已(yi)颓乎?果(guo)以是(shi)年夏秋间谢世。古(gu)云诗谶,理或有之。
赵鹿泉前辈言,吕城,吴吕蒙所筑也,夹河两岸,有二土神祠,其一为唐汾阳王郭子仪,已不可解;其一为袁绍部将颜良,更不省其所自来。土人祈祷,颇为灵应,所属境周十五里,不许置一关帝祠,置则为祸。有一县令不信,值颜祠社会,亲往观之,故令伶人演三国志杂剧,狂风(feng)(feng)忽起,卷(juan)芦棚苫盖至(zhi)空(kong)中(zhong),斗掷而(er)(er)下。伶人(ren)有(you)死(si)者,所属十五(wu)(wu)里内,瘟疫大(da)(da)作,人(ren)畜死(si)亡,令亦大(da)(da)病几殆。余谓两军相敌,各为(wei)(wei)(wei)其主,此(ci)胜(sheng)彼败(bai),势(shi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)并存,此(ci)以公义(yi)杀人(ren),非(fei)以私恨杀人(ren)也。其间以智勇之(zhi)(zhi)略(lve),败(bai)于(yu)(yu)意外者,其数(shu)在(zai)天(tian),不(bu)(bu)(bu)得(de)而(er)(er)尤人(ren);以驽下之(zhi)(zhi)才,败(bai)于(yu)(yu)胜(sheng)己(ji)者,其过(guo)在(zai)己(ji),亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)得(de)而(er)(er)尤人(ren)。张睢(sui)阳(yang)厉鬼杀贼(zei),以社稷安(an)危,争是(shi)(shi)(shi)一(yi)郡,是(shi)(shi)(shi)为(wei)(wei)(wei)君国而(er)(er)然(ran),非(fei)为(wei)(wei)(wei)一(yi)己(ji)而(er)(er)然(ran)也。使功成事(shi)定(ding)之(zhi)(zhi)后(hou),殁(mo)于(yu)(yu)战阵者,皆挟以为(wei)(wei)(wei)仇,则(ze)古来名将(jiang),无不(bu)(bu)(bu)为(wei)(wei)(wei)鬼所殛矣,有(you)是(shi)(shi)(shi)理乎?且(qie)颜良受歼已(yi)久(jiu),越(yue)一(yi)二千(qian)年(nian),曾无灵响,何(he)忽今日(ri)(ri)而(er)(er)为(wei)(wei)(wei)神(shen),何(he)乎今日(ri)(ri)而(er)(er)报怨?揆以天(tian)理,殆必不(bu)(bu)(bu)然(ran),是(shi)(shi)(shi)盖庙(miao)祝师巫,造为(wei)(wei)(wei)诡语,山妖水怪,因民所荧(ying)惑而(er)(er)依砶之(zhi)(zhi)。刘(liu)敬(jing)叔(shu)异苑曰:丹阳(yang)县(xian)有(you)袁双庙(miao),真第四子也,真为(wei)(wei)(wei)桓宣(xuan)武诛(zhu),便失所在(zai),太元中(zhong)形见(jian)于(yu)(yu)丹阳(yang),求立庙(miao),未(wei)即就功,大(da)(da)有(you)虎灾(zai),被(bei)害之(zhi)(zhi)家辄梦(meng)双至(zhi),催功甚(shen)急(ji)。百姓立祠,于(yu)(yu)是(shi)(shi)(shi)猛暴用(yong)息(xi)。常以二月晦,鼓舞(wu)祈祠,其日(ri)(ri)恒风(feng)(feng)雨。至(zhi)元嘉五(wu)(wu)年(nian),设奠讫,村人(ren)邱都(dou)于(yu)(yu)庙(miao)后(hou)见(jian)一(yi)物(wu),人(ren)面鼍身,葛(ge)巾,七孔端正而(er)(er)有(you)酒气,未(wei)知为(wei)(wei)(wei)双之(zhi)(zhi)神(shen),为(wei)(wei)(wei)是(shi)(shi)(shi)物(wu)凭也。余谓来必风(feng)(feng)雨,其为(wei)(wei)(wei)水怪无疑。然(ran)则(ze)是(shi)(shi)(shi)事(shi)古有(you)之(zhi)(zhi)矣。
舅氏张公梦征言--亦字尚文(wen),讳景说。沧州吴家(jia)庄东一(yi)小庵,岁(sui)久无僧,恒(heng)为往来(lai)憩(qi)息地,有月作(zuo)人(ren)(ren),每于庵前遇一(yi)人(ren)(ren),招之(zhi)(zhi)坐谈,颇相投契,渐(jian)与(yu)赴市(shi)沽饮,情益款洽。偶询其乡贯居址(zhi),其人(ren)(ren)愧谢曰(yue):与(yu)君(jun)交厚,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢欺(qi),实此(ci)(ci)(ci)庵中老狐(hu)(hu)也(ye)。月作(zuo)人(ren)(ren)亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)怖畏,来(lai)往如(ru)初。一(yi)是(shi)复(fu)遇,挈鸟铳(chong)相授曰(yue):余狎(xia)一(yi)妇,余弟(di)(di)亦私(si)与(yu)狎(xia),是(shi)盗嫂也(ye)。禁之(zhi)(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)止,殴之(zhi)(zhi)则余力不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敌,愤不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可忍(ren),将今夜(ye)伺之(zhi)(zhi)于路歧,与(yu)决(jue)生(sheng)死(si),闻君(jun)善(shan)用铳(chong),俟交斗时,乞(qi)发以击彼,感(gan)且不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)朽。月明(ming)如(ru)昼(zhou),君(jun)望(wang)之(zhi)(zhi)易(yi)辨也(ye)。月作(zuo)人(ren)(ren)诺之(zhi)(zhi),即(ji)所(suo)指(zhi)处伏草间(jian),既(ji)而(er)私(si)念曰(yue),其弟(di)(di)无礼(li),诚当死(si),然(ran)究所(suo)媚之(zhi)(zhi)外(wai)妇,彼自有夫,非(fei)嫂也(ye),骨肉之(zhi)(zhi)间(jian),宜善(shan)处置(zhi),必致之(zhi)(zhi)死(si),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)太忍(ren)乎?彼兄(xiong)(xiong)弟(di)(di)犹如(ru)此(ci)(ci)(ci),吾(wu)时与(yu)往来(lai),倘有睚眦,虑且及我(wo)矣。因乘其纠结不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)解,发一(yi)铳(chong)而(er)两(liang)杀之(zhi)(zhi)。棠(tang)棣之(zhi)(zhi)诗曰(yue):兄(xiong)(xiong)弟(di)(di)阋(xi)于墙,外(wai)御其侮,家(jia)庭交瞭(liao),未有不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)归于两(liang)伤者。舅氏恒(heng)举(ju)此(ci)(ci)(ci)事(shi)为子敕戒。盖是(shi)人(ren)(ren)负两(liang)狐(hu)(hu)归,尝目睹也(ye)。
司庖杨媪(ao)言(yan),其(qi)(qi)(qi)乡某(mou)甲,将死嘱其(qi)(qi)(qi)妇(fu)(fu)曰(yue):我(wo)(wo)生无余赀(zi),身后(hou)(hou)汝(ru)(ru)(ru)母子(zi)(zi)(zi)必冻(dong)饿,四世单传(chuan),存此幼子(zi)(zi)(zi),今(jin)(jin)与(yu)汝(ru)(ru)(ru)约,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)拘(ju)何(he)人,能(neng)为(wei)(wei)我(wo)(wo)抚孤则嫁之(zhi)(zhi),亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)限(xian)服制(zhi)月日(ri)食,尽(jin)则行。嘱讫,闭目不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)更言(yan),惟呻(shen)吟待尽(jin),越半(ban)日(ri),乃(nai)(nai)绝。有(you)(you)某(mou)乙(yi)(yi)闻(wen)其(qi)(qi)(qi)有(you)(you)色,遣媒妁请如约,妇(fu)(fu)虽许婚(hun),以(yi)(yi)尚足自活,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忍行,数(shu)月后(hou)(hou)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)举(ju)火,乃(nai)(nai)成礼。合卺之(zhi)(zhi)夜,已(yi)灭(mie)烛(zhu)就枕(zhen),忽闻(wen)窗(chuang)外叹息声,妇(fu)(fu)识其(qi)(qi)(qi)声,盘知(zhi)为(wei)(wei)故夫之(zhi)(zhi)魂(hun),隔窗(chuang)呜(wu)咽语(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue):君(jun)有(you)(you)遗言(yan),非(fei)(fei)我(wo)(wo)私嫁,今(jin)(jin)夕之(zhi)(zhi)事(shi),于势不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)然(ran)(ran),君(jun)何(he)以(yi)(yi)为(wei)(wei)祟。魂(hun)亦呜(wu)咽曰(yue):吾自来(lai)(lai)视儿,非(fei)(fei)来(lai)(lai)祟汝(ru)(ru)(ru),因闻(wen)汝(ru)(ru)(ru)啜(chuo)泣卸妆(zhuang),念(nian)贫(pin)故,使汝(ru)(ru)(ru)至于此,心脾动,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)觉喟(kui)然(ran)(ran)耳(er)。某(mou)乙(yi)(yi)悸甚,急(ji)披衣起(qi)曰(yue):自今(jin)(jin)以(yi)(yi)往,所(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)视君(jun)子(zi)(zi)(zi)如子(zi)(zi)(zi)者,有(you)(you)如日(ri)。灵语(yu)遂(sui)寂。后(hou)(hou)某(mou)乙(yi)(yi)耽玩艳(yan)妻(qi),足不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)出(chu)户,而妇(fu)(fu)恒惘(wang)惘(wang)如有(you)(you)失(shi),某(mou)乙(yi)(yi)倍爱(ai)其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)以(yi)(yi)媚之(zhi)(zhi),乃(nai)(nai)稍稍笑语(yu)。七八(ba)载后(hou)(hou),某(mou)乙(yi)(yi)病死,无子(zi)(zi)(zi),亦别无亲属,妇(fu)(fu)据其(qi)(qi)(qi)赀(zi),延师教子(zi)(zi)(zi),竟得游泮。又(you)为(wei)(wei)纳妇(fu)(fu),生两孙,至妇(fu)(fu)年四十余,忽梦故夫曰(yue):我(wo)(wo)自随汝(ru)(ru)(ru)来(lai)(lai),未曾离此,因吾子(zi)(zi)(zi)事(shi)事(shi)得所(suo),汝(ru)(ru)(ru)虽日(ri)与(yu)彼(bi)(bi)狎昵,而念(nian)念(nian)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忘我(wo)(wo),灯前月下,背人弹泪,我(wo)(wo)皆(jie)见之(zhi)(zhi),故不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)欲(yu)稍露(lu)形声,惊(jing)尔母子(zi)(zi)(zi),今(jin)(jin)彼(bi)(bi)已(yi)转轮,汝(ru)(ru)(ru)寿亦尽(jin),余情未断,当随我(wo)(wo)同归(gui)也。数(shu)日(ri)果微疾,以(yi)(yi)梦告其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)肯服药,荏(ren)苒遂(sui)卒。其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)奉棺(guan)合葬于故夫,从其(qi)(qi)(qi)志也。程子(zi)(zi)(zi)谓饿死事(shi)小,失(shi)节事(shi)大,是(shi)诚千古(gu)之(zhi)(zhi)正理。然(ran)(ran)为(wei)(wei)一身言(yan)之(zhi)(zhi)耳(er)。此妇(fu)(fu)甘(gan)辱一身,以(yi)(yi)延宗祀,所(suo)全者大,似(si)又(you)当别论矣。杨媪(ao)能(neng)举(ju)其(qi)(qi)(qi)姓氏里(li)居(ju),以(yi)(yi)碎璧归(gui)赵,究(jiu)非(fei)(fei)完(wan)美,隐而不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)书,闵其(qi)(qi)(qi)遇悲其(qi)(qi)(qi)志,为(wei)(wei)贤(xian)者讳也。又(you)吾乡有(you)(you)再醮故夫之(zhi)(zhi)三(san)从表弟者,两家(jia)所(suo)居(ju),距一牛鸣地,嫁后(hou)(hou)乃(nai)(nai)以(yi)(yi)亲串礼回视其(qi)(qi)(qi)姑,三(san)数(shu)日(ri)必一来(lai)(lai)问起(qi)居(ju),且时(shi)有(you)(you)赡助。姑赖(lai)以(yi)(yi)活。殁后(hou)(hou),出(chu)赀(zi)敛葬,岁恒遣人祀其(qi)(qi)(qi)墓。又(you)京(jing)师一妇(fu)(fu)少寡(gua),虽颇有(you)(you)姿首,而针黹烹饪,皆(jie)非(fei)(fei)所(suo)能(neng),乃(nai)(nai)谋于翁姑,伪称(cheng)其(qi)(qi)(qi)女,鬻为(wei)(wei)宦(huan)家(jia)妾,竟养翁姑终身。是(shi)皆(jie)堕节之(zhi)(zhi)妇(fu)(fu),原不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)足称(cheng),然(ran)(ran)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忘旧恩,亦足励薄俗(su)。君(jun)子(zi)(zi)(zi)与(yu)人为(wei)(wei)善,固应不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)没(mei)其(qi)(qi)(qi)寸长。讲学家(jia)持论务严(yan),遂(sui)使一时(shi)失(shi)足者,无路自赎,仅甘(gan)心于自弃,非(fei)(fei)教人补过之(zhi)(zhi)道也。
慧灯和尚言,有举子(zi)于丰宜(yi)门外,租小庵过夏,地(di)甚幽僻。一(yi)日,得(de)揣摩(mo)秘本,于灯下手(shou)抄,闻(wen)窗外似浙(zhe)(zhe)浙(zhe)(zhe)有人(ren),试问为谁,外应曰:身是幽魂,沉滞于此(ci),不(bu)闻(wen)书声者百(bai)余年矣,连日听君(jun)讽诵(song),枨触夙心,思一(yi)晤谈,以(yi)消郁结(jie),与君(jun)气类,幸勿相惊(jing)。语讫,揭帘径入,举止温(wen)雅(ya),甚有士风(feng)。举子(zi)惶怖呼寺僧(seng),僧(seng)至,鬼亦不(bu)畏,指一(yi)椅曰:师(shi)且坐,我(wo)故识(shi)师(shi),师(shi)素朴野,无丛林(lin)市井气,可共语也。僧(seng)及举子(zi)俱踧(cu)踖不(bu)能答,鬼乃探(tan)取(qu)所录书,才阅数行,遽掷之(zhi)于地(di),奄然(ran)而灭(mie)。
杨雨亭言,莱州深山有童子牧羊,日恒亡一二,大为主人扑责,留意侦之,乃二大蛇从山罅出,吸之吞食,其巨如瓮,莫敢撄也。童子恨甚,乃谋于其父,设犁刀于山罅,果一蛇裂腹死。惧其偶之报复,不敢复牧于是地,时往潜伺,寂无形迹,意其他徒矣。半载以后,贪是地水草胜他处,乃驱羊往牧,牧未三日,而童子为蛇吞矣。盖潜匿不出以诱童子之来也。童子之父有心计,阳不搜索,而阴祈营弁,藏一抱于深草中,时密往伺察,两月以外,见石上有蜿蜒痕,乃载燧夜伏其旁。蛇果下饮于涧,簌簌有声,遂一发而糜碎焉。还家之后,忽发狂自挝曰:汝计杀我夫,我计杀汝子,适相当也。我已深藏不出,汝又百计以杀我,则我为枉死矣,今必不舍汝。越数日而卒。俚谚有之曰:角力不解,必同仆地,角饮不解,必同沉醉。斯言虽小,可以喻大矣。
