乌鲁(lu)木齐(qi)有(you)(you)道士卖药于市。或(huo)曰是有(you)(you)妖术。人(ren)见(jian)其(qi)夜(ye)宿旅舍(she)中,临睡必探佩囊,出(chu)一小壶卢(lu),倾出(chu)黑(hei)物二丸(wan),即(ji)有(you)(you)二少女与同寝,晓乃不(bu)(bu)见(jian)。问之则(ze)云(yun)无有(you)(you)。余忆辍耕录周月惜事(shi)(shi),曰:此乃所(suo)采生魂也,是法(fa)食(shi)马(ma)肉(rou)(rou)则(ze)破。适(shi)中营(ying)有(you)(you)马(ma)死,遣吏(li)密嘱(zhu)旅舍(she)主(zhu)人(ren),问适(shi)有(you)(you)马(ma)肉(rou)(rou),可食(shi)否?道士掉(diao)头(tou)曰:马(ma)肉(rou)(rou)岂可食(shi)。余益疑(yi),拟料理之,同事(shi)(shi)陈君题桥曰:道士携少女,公(gong)(gong)未亲见(jian);不(bu)(bu)食(shi)马(ma)肉(rou)(rou),公(gong)(gong)亦未亲见(jian)。据无稽之说(shuo),遽(ju)兴(xing)大狱(yu),似(si)非(fei)所(suo)宜。塞(sai)外不(bu)(bu)当(dang)留杂色(se)人(ren),饬所(suo)司(si)驱之出(chu)境足矣。余乃止。后将军温 公(gong)(gong)闻之曰:欲穷(qiong)治者(zhe)太过。倘畏刑妄供别(bie)情,事(shi)(shi)关重(zhong)大,又无确据,作何行止;驱出(chu)境者(zhe)太不(bu)(bu)及(ji)。倘转徙(xi)别(bie)地,或(huo)酿事(shi)(shi)端,云(yun)曾在乌鲁(lu)木齐(qi)久住,谁职其(qi)咎。行迹可疑(yi)人(ren),关隘例(li)当(dang)盘(pan)诘搜检,验有(you)(you)实证,则(ze)当(dang)付所(suo)司(si);验无实证,则(ze)其(qi)牒递回原籍,使勿惑民,不(bu)(bu)亦善乎?余二人(ren)皆服公(gong)(gong)之论。
庄(zhuang)学士(shi)木癤,少随父书石先生泊舟江 岸,夜失足落江 中(zhong),舟人(ren)弗知也(ye)。漂(piao)荡(dang)间(jian)闻人(ren)语曰:可(ke)救起福(fu)建学院。此有(you)(you)关(guan)系,勿草草。不觉已还(hai)挂本舟舵尾上,呼救得免。后果督福(fu)建学政,赴任(ren)时,举(ju)是事语余(yu)曰:吾其(qi)不返乎?余(yu)以立命之说勉之,竟(jing)卒于官。又其(qi)兄方耕少宗伯,雍正(zheng)庚戌在京邸,遇地震,压于小弄中(zhong)。适(shi)两墙对(dui)圮,相柱如人(ren)字帐形(xing),坐其(qi)中(zhong)一昼夜,乃得掘出。岂非死(si)生有(you)(you)命乎?
何励庵先生言,十三(san)四岁时(shi),随父罢官还京师,人多舟狭,遂布席(xi)于(yu)巨箱(xiang)上寝。夜分觉有一掌(zhang)扪之(zhi)(zhi),其(qi)冷如(ru)冰,魇良久乃(nai)醒(xing)。后夜夜皆然,谓是神虚,服药亦无效(xiao),至登陆乃(nai)已。后知(zhi)箱(xiang)乃(nai)其(qi)仆物,仆母卒于(yu)官署(shu),厝郊外(wai),临行陰焚(fen)其(qi)柩(jiu),而(er)以衣包骨匿箱(xiang)中(zhong)。当由人眠其(qi)上,魂不得(de)安,故作(zuo)是变(bian)怪也。然则旅(lv)魂随骨返,信有之(zhi)(zhi)矣。
励庵先生(sheng)又云,有(you)(you)友(you)聂(nie)姓,往(wang)西(xi)山深处(chu)上(shang)墓(mu)返,天寒日短(duan),翳然已(yi)(yi)暮,畏有(you)(you)虎(hu)患(huan),竭蹶力行,望见破庙在山腹,急奔入。时已(yi)(yi)曛(xun)黑,闻墙隅(yu)(yu)人语曰(yue):此非(fei)人境,檀越可(ke)速去(qu)。心知是僧,问(wen)师(shi)(shi)何(he)在此暗(an)坐?曰(yue):佛(fo)(fo)家无(wu)(wu)诳语,身实缢鬼(gui)(gui)(gui),在此待(dai)替。聂(nie)毛骨悚(song)栗。既(ji)而曰(yue):与死(si)于(yu)虎(hu),无(wu)(wu)宁死(si)于(yu)鬼(gui)(gui)(gui),吾与师(shi)(shi)共宿矣(yi)。鬼(gui)(gui)(gui)曰(yue):不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)去(qu)亦可(ke),但幽明异路,君不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)胜陰气之(zhi)(zhi)侵,我不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)胜陽气之(zhi)(zhi)炼,均(jun)刺促不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)安耳(er)。各占一(yi)隅(yu)(yu),毋(wu)相(xiang)近(jin)可(ke)也。聂(nie)遥问(wen)待(dai)替之(zhi)(zhi)故,鬼(gui)(gui)(gui)曰(yue):上(shang)帝(di)好生(sheng),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)欲人自(zi)(zi)戕其(qi)(qi)命。如(ru)(ru)忠臣尽节,烈妇完贞,是虽横夭,与正命无(wu)(wu)异,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)必(bi)待(dai)替;其(qi)(qi)情(qing)迫势穷,更(geng)无(wu)(wu)求生(sheng)之(zhi)(zhi)路者,悯其(qi)(qi)事非(fei)得(de)已(yi)(yi),亦付转轮。仍核计生(sheng)平,依(yi)善恶受(shou)报,亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)必(bi)待(dai)替;倘(tang)有(you)(you)一(yi)线可(ke)生(sheng),或小(xiao)忿不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忍(ren),或借以(yi)累人,逞其(qi)(qi)戾气,率尔投缳,则大(da)拂天地生(sheng)物之(zhi)(zhi)心,故必(bi)使待(dai)替以(yi)示罚。所以(yi)幽囚沉(chen)滞(zhi),动(dong)至百年也。问(wen)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)有(you)(you)诱(you)(you)人相(xiang)替者乎?鬼(gui)(gui)(gui)曰(yue):吾不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忍(ren)也。凡人就缢,为(wei)节义死(si)者,魂自(zi)(zi)顶上(shang)升(sheng)。其(qi)(qi)死(si)速;为(wei)忿嫉死(si)者,魂自(zi)(zi)心不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)降(jiang),其(qi)(qi)死(si)迟。未绝之(zhi)(zhi)顷,百脉倒涌(yong),肌肤皆寸寸欲裂,痛如(ru)(ru)脔割,胸(xiong)膈(ge)肠胃(wei)中如(ru)(ru)烈焰燔(fan)烧(shao),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)忍(ren)受(shou),如(ru)(ru)是十许(xu)刻,形神乃(nai)离。思是楚(chu)毒,见缢者方阻之(zhi)(zhi)速返,肯相(xiang)诱(you)(you)乎?聂(nie)曰(yue):师(shi)(shi)存是念(nian),自(zi)(zi)必(bi)生(sheng)天。鬼(gui)(gui)(gui)曰(yue):是不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢望。惟一(yi)意(yi)念(nian)佛(fo)(fo),冀忏悔耳(er)。俄天欲曙,问(wen)之(zhi)(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)言,谛(di)视亦无(wu)(wu)所见。后聂(nie)每上(shang)墓(mu),必(bi)携饮食纸(zhi)钱祭之(zhi)(zhi),辄有(you)(you)旋(xuan)(xuan)风绕左右。一(yi)岁,旋(xuan)(xuan)风不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)至,意(yi)其(qi)(qi)一(yi)念(nian)之(zhi)(zhi)善,已(yi)(yi)解(jie)脱鬼(gui)(gui)(gui)趣矣(yi)。
王(wang)(wang)半仙(xian)尝访其狐友(you),狐迎笑曰(yue)(yue):君昨(zuo)夜梦至范(fan)住(zhu)家(jia),欢(huan)娱(yu)乃尔。范(fan)住(zhu)者,邑之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)名(ming)妓也(ye),王(wang)(wang)回忆实有是梦,问何以知。曰(yue)(yue):人秉陽(yang)(yang)气(qi)(qi)以生(sheng),陽(yang)(yang)亲上,气(qi)(qi)恒发越于(yu)顶(ding),睡(shui)则(ze)神(shen)聚于(yu)心(xin)(xin),灵光(guang)与陽(yang)(yang)气(qi)(qi)相映,如(ru)(ru)镜取影(ying)。梦生(sheng)于(yu)心(xin)(xin),其影(ying)皆(jie)现于(yu)陽(yang)(yang)气(qi)(qi)中,往来生(sheng)灭,倏忽变形一(yi)(yi)(yi)二寸小人,如(ru)(ru)画(hua)图(tu),如(ru)(ru)戏(xi)剧(ju),如(ru)(ru)虫之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)蠕(ru)动,即不(bu)(bu)可告人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)事(shi),亦百态毕露,鬼神(shen)皆(jie)得(de)而见之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。狐之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)通灵者,亦得(de)见之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),但(dan)不(bu)(bu)闻其语耳。昨(zuo)偶过(guo)君家(jia),是以见君之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)梦。又(you)曰(yue)(yue):心(xin)(xin)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)善(shan)恶(e)亦现于(yu)陽(yang)(yang)气(qi)(qi)中。生(sheng)一(yi)(yi)(yi)善(shan)念(nian),则(ze)气(qi)(qi)中一(yi)(yi)(yi)线(xian)如(ru)(ru)烈(lie)焰;生(sheng)一(yi)(yi)(yi)恶(e)心(xin)(xin),则(ze)气(qi)(qi)中一(yi)(yi)(yi)线(xian)如(ru)(ru)浓烟(yan)。浓烟(yan)幂(mi)首,尚(shang)有一(yi)(yi)(yi)线(xian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)光(guang),是畜生(sheng)道中人;并(bing)一(yi)(yi)(yi)线(xian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)光(guang)而无之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),是泥(ni)犁狱中人矣。王(wang)(wang)问恶(e)人浓烟(yan)幂(mi)首,真梦影(ying)何由复见,曰(yue)(yue):人心(xin)(xin)本善(shan),恶(e)念(nian)蔽之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。睡(shui)时(shi)(shi)一(yi)(yi)(yi)念(nian)不(bu)(bu)生(sheng),则(ze)此心(xin)(xin)还(hai)其本体(ti),陽(yang)(yang)气(qi)(qi)仍自光(guang)明(ming),即其初醒时(shi)(shi),念(nian)尚(shang)未(wei)起(qi),光(guang)明(ming)亦尚(shang)在。念(nian)渐(jian)起(qi)则(ze)渐(jian)昏,念(nian)全起(qi)则(ze)全昏矣。君不(bu)(bu)读书,试向秀才问之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),孟子所谓夜气(qi)(qi),即此是也(ye)。王(wang)(wang)悚然曰(yue)(yue):鬼神(shen)鉴察(cha),乃及(ji)于(yu)梦寐之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)中。
雷(lei)出于(yu)地,向于(yu)福(fu)建白鹤岭(ling)上(shang)(shang)见(jian)(jian)之(zhi)(zhi)。岭(ling)高五十(shi)里,陰雨时(shi)俯视,浓(nong)云(yun)(yun)仅(jin)发山半。有(you)气(qi)一(yi)缕,自云(yun)(yun)中涌出,直激而(er)上(shang)(shang),气(qi)之(zhi)(zhi)纤末,忽(hu)(hu)火(huo)(huo)光(guang)迸散(san),即砰然(ran)有(you)声。与火(huo)(huo)炮全相似。至于(yu)击物之(zhi)(zhi)雷(lei),则(ze)自天(tian)而(er)下(xia)。戊(wu)午夏,余与从(cong)兄懋园坦居(ju)读书崔(cui)(cui)庄(zhuang)(zhuang)(zhuang)三层(ceng)楼上(shang)(shang)。开窗四(si)望,数里可睹(du)。时(shi)方雷(lei)雨,遥见(jian)(jian)一(yi)人自南来,去庄(zhuang)(zhuang)(zhuang)约半里许(xu),忽(hu)(hu)跪(gui)于(yu)地,倏云(yun)(yun)幂气(qi)下(xia)垂幂之(zhi)(zhi)不见(jian)(jian),俄雷(lei)震一(yi)声,火(huo)(huo)光(guang)照眼,如咫尺。云(yun)(yun)已敛(lian)而(er)上(shang)(shang)矣。少顷喧言高川李善(shan)人为(wei)雷(lei)所殛。随众(zhong)往视,遍身(shen)焦黑,乃(nai)拱手(shou)端跪(gui),仰面(mian)望天(tian),背有(you)朱书,非篆非籀(zhou),非草非隶,点画缴(jiao)绕,不能辨几字。其(qi)人持斋礼佛,无(wu)善(shan)迹,亦无(wu)恶迹,不知为(wei)夙业,为(wei)隐慝也。其(qi)侄(zhi)李士钦曰:是日晨起必欲赴(fu)崔(cui)(cui)庄(zhuang)(zhuang)(zhuang)。实无(wu)一(yi)事,竟冒雨而(er)来,及于(yu)此难(nan)。或曰:是日崔(cui)(cui)庄(zhuang)(zhuang)(zhuang)大集--崔(cui)(cui)庄(zhuang)(zhuang)(zhuang)市人交 易(yi),以(yi)(yi)一(yi)六(liu)日大集,三八日小集。殆鬼神驱(qu)以(yi)(yi)来,与众(zhong)见(jian)(jian)之(zhi)(zhi)。
余官兵部(bu)时,有(you)一(yi)吏尝为(wei)(wei)狐所(suo)媚(mei),癥瘦骨(gu)立,乞张真人符(fu)治之,忽闻檐际人语(yu)曰:君(jun)为(wei)(wei)吏,非理取财,当婴(ying)刑戮。我夙生曾受君(jun)再生恩,故以艳色蛊惑,摄君(jun)精气,欲君(jun)以瘵(zhai)疾善终(zhong)。今被驱(qu)遣,是君(jun)业重(zhong)不可救也。宜努力(li)积善,尚冀万一(yi)挽(wan)回耳(er)。自是病愈(yu)。然竟不悛改,后(hou)果以盗用印信(xin),私收马税伏诛。堂吏有(you)知其事者,后(hou)为(wei)(wei)余述之云。
前母(mu)张(zhang)太夫人,有(you)婢曰绣鸾,尝月(yue)夜(ye)坐堂阶,呼之(zhi),则东西(xi)(xi)廊皆(jie)有(you)一绣鸾趋出。形状衣服(fu)无少(shao)异(yi)。乃(nai)至(zhi)(zhi)右襟反(fan)摺其(qi)角,左袖(xiu)半卷亦(yi)相同。大骇几(ji)仆,再(zai)视之(zhi),惟存(cun)其(qi)一。问之(zhi),乃(nai)从西(xi)(xi)廊来。又(you)问见东廊人否,云未(wei)见也。此七月(yue)间事(shi)。至(zhi)(zhi)十一月(yue)即谢(xie)世。殆禄已将尽,故(gu)魅敢现形欤。
沧州插花(hua)庙尼,姓董(dong)氏,遇大士(shi)诞辰,治供(gong)具将毕(bi),忽(hu)觉微倦,倚几暂憩(qi),恍惚梦大士(shi)语之(zhi)曰:尔不(bu)献供(gong),我(wo)亦不(bu)忍饥;尔即献供(gong),我(wo)亦不(bu)加饱。寺门外有(you)流民四五辈乞食(shi)不(bu)得,困饿将殆(dai),尔辍(chuo)供(gong)具以饭之(zhi),功德胜供(gong)我(wo)十倍也。霍然惊(jing)醒,启门出现(xian),果不(bu)谬,自(zi)是每(mei)年(nian)供(gong)具献毕(bi),皆以施丐者,曰:此菩萨意也。
先太夫人言,沧州有轿夫田某,母患臌将殆,闻景和镇一医有奇药,相距百余里,昧爽狂奔去,薄暮已狂奔归,气息仅属,然是夕卫河暴涨,舟不敢渡,乃仰天大号,泪随声下。众虽哀之,而无如何。忽一舟子解缆呼曰:苟有神理,此人不溺,来来,吾渡尔。奋然鼓楫,横冲白浪而行。一弹指顷,已抵东岸。观者皆合掌诵佛号。先姚安公曰:此舟子信道之笃,过于儒者。
